Help resetting a
password for an old version
- First, if you do not have a working version of SL
download the version you registered from one of the above links. You
must download the correct version as the passwords are NOT interchangeable
between versions 7, 8, and 9.
- Second, install SL on your computer if you have not
already
- Third, run SL on your computer. From the main
menu open the registration form and complete it, then be sure to save the
changes you made
- If you have a data back , then just copy the backup data file "SLXdata.mdb" to
the sub-directory where you have SLX installed.
Note: SLX represent SL8, or SL9.
- Alternatively, enter your old password if you have it.
- If your product does not reset to your registered
level (such as Hobbyist, Small Shop, or Commercial level) then. .
- Fourth, email the following to
sales@sheetlayout.com
- Your registration number found on the "registration
page".
- What level you registered ( Hobbyist, Small Shop. . .
.)
- Which registered version you have, Version 8 or
Version 9
- Approximately when you purchased it.
- Your old password if you have a record of it.
- Note: Version 7 is over 6 years old and we no longer
support password resets for that version. We do offer a 40% discount to
registered users for product upgrades. Please see our online store.
Installing a
Patch
The advantage to installing a patch are as follows.
- The patch file is much smaller and quicker to
download
- Installing a patch keeps any data that you have
entered
- Your password is not changed and you do NOT need to
register again.
- Note: There is no difference in using a patch
file or the complete installation.
Steps to installing a patch.
- Download the patch file
- Unzip the patch file.
- Note: your browser may do this automatically for
you
- May sure you know which directory that the patch
is unzipped into
- Replace your old "Sheet Layout 9.exe" file, with the
new file.
- Your old file is usually found in the following
directory
- C:/ Program Files / Productivity Software / Sheet
Layout 9 / Bin
Note - Small Shop Plus or greater owners:
Install the patch for Version 9.04 as described above.
Because of increased functionality, you will receive an error (until you save
your new settings) when you open the import window as the import definitions are
updated.
What is a Patch?
- A patch consists of a file, or a series of files,
that have been updated to increase the functionality of Sheet Layout.
For example;
- A minor new feature could be added
- An enhancement to feature to make it more
understandable or easier to use could be added
- The Help file could be updated to reflect common
user questions. In fact, the help file is indeed updated frequently.
- and last, yes, there could be a bug or a warning
that causes operational problems that has been corrected or otherwise
improved.
